Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) and Yuanta Cultural and Educational Foundation (Foundation) went to Tainan in southern Taiwan today (11/9) to run the “Yuanta Happiness Day,” in which Yuanta volunteers accompanied 60 children from Tainan’s remote areas to explore interesting astronomical knowledge and the mysteries of the universe at the Tainan Astronomical Education Area. In order to give each participating child a gift that is uniquely his or her own, Yuanta Foundation prepared a customized “Happiness Gift Pack” containing brand new clothes, pants, and shoes for the children to take home.

This event invited the elementary school children who are cared for and counseled by the Tainan Sunshine and True Love Adolescent Care Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association). Most of the children have no one to take care of them after school due to the unstable financial situation of their families and the fact that their elders are out of the house for work. The children are accompanied by the Association for their school work, dinner, and even holidays. Yuanta Foundation took these children to the Tainan Astronomical Education Area, which they seldom have the opportunity to visit, in the hope of stimulating their imagination and creativity through digital interactive exhibitions, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) origami activities, and the visual and sensory impact of the 3D Astronomy Theater.

Sunshine and True Love Adolescent Care Association is a social welfare organization recommended by the Social Affairs Bureau of the Tainan City Government. Chief Secretary of the Social Affairs Bureau, Ya-Fen Chen, said that Yuanta holds the Happiness Day event every year, and she thanked the company and all the volunteers for giving back to the society. The Association’s secretary-general, Su-Fen Hsu, shared that the Association not only helps children with after-school tutoring, but also accompanies them in learning life skills, such as frying rice and eggs and other simple cooking skills, and thanked Yuanta Foundation for caring about the children in the community.

According to the Yuanta Foundation, a school principal once shared that the Yuanta Happiness Day is like a switch that activates the imagination of happiness for children in remote areas, and that not only can they feel the goodwill of the society during the event, but they can also see different life styles and possibilities. Yuanta Foundation hopes that they can use this happiness to open up more happiness, whether it is chasing their dreams or helping others.

The Yuanta Happiness Day began with a Happiness Gift Pack in the hope that children, regardless of their family’s circumstances, would feel the joy of receiving a brand-new gift, and since its inception in 2012, more than 8,000 Happiness Gift Packs have been given out across Taiwan. Yuanta FHC and Yuanta Foundation will continue to take practical actions to care for the community, and through the warm-hearted companionship of Yuanta volunteers, we will infuse positive and warm strength into the children’s growth process, and realize the happiness of being cared for and accompanied, so that the warm current of love will continue to circulate.
